Korn started their nu metal music in a town of Bakersfield, California. They are credited with starting this genre of music back in the early 90’s. Nu Metal included a combination of metal, electronica and hip hop.
Recently Korn has stayed away from including much hip hop into their music and now have incorporated the use of synth. Synthesizers provide the use of keyboards in their music to produce a darker more epic sound.
Korn’s once five member band is now down to only three. The original members of the group consisted of Jonathan Davis, James “Munky” Shafer, Fieldy, and David Silveria. They no longer have a consistent drummer being that Silveria left along with fellow band member Fieldy. They released their first album without their main drummer David Silveria and have included keyboardist Zac Baird.
To date Korn has sold over 16 million albums in the U.S. and have one 2 Grammy’s. With their recent release in July of 2007 they have consistently put out 9 consecutive debut albums all of which were in the top 10 on the billboard charts.
